Teaching mathematics

I know that this is my second post today, but since I didn’t post for a few days, and since I am on my way to teach mathematics, I thought it would be nice to tell you a little about my experience in this field.

I already told you about this project, but Iwant to share the difficulties and the rewards I experience. It is very hard teaching something that you last used about 20 years ago, plus the fact that the coriculum in the schools changed since I was there, you can guess that sometimes I find myself trying to solve a problem that I have got no clue what to do, But with the help of my students and their books we usually find the way and solve the problem. It is really frustraiting when it happens but every year I get stuck in fewer cases than the previous year as I am teaching more or less the same material. I hope to improve as I go on, I’m sure I will.

When I find students that are really enthusiastic and are willing to learn, it is a great feeling, when the take their final exam and get good grades its a big thrill, we hear from their teachers, headmaster and even the mayor that our help is really making a difference, these things are what makes me going.

Hope to keep writing soon,

Gil

My family

Its been a few days since I last posted here, I hope to make daily posts in the future. Today I want to tell you a bit about my family and how I started with the genealogy research of it.

I don’t have a very big family, the inner circle includes my parents, both 82 years old and my sister’s family, she is 18 years older than myself, married and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren, we meet each other every 2 or 3 weeks and keep in touch between these meetings.

When looking beyond the inner circle, my grandparents had few brothers and sisters each and the previous generations also had big families, so the outer circle of the family in not small. I like getting to know the ins and outs of the relationships and so after one relative from the US wrote a book containing information that goes back to the 18th century I really got involved and stated mapping the rest of the branches, its not an easy work but I enjoy it very much and find a lot of interesting information and stories that happened to the clan in the past, it is a job that will never end and always there is more to find out and more to record, I hope to keep doing it as my free time will allow me, its very time consuming but there are more members of the family that are interested so I hope that between us we will be able to go on and make progress, I will post interesting information and stories as I find them and I will tell you more about the research itself in future posts.

Hope to continue soon,

Gil

Volunteer

Helping others is really helping yourself, this is really true, you can gain a lot by volunteer work, I’m involved in two volunteer projects at the moment and I want to tell you a little about them.

The first place is the police where I serve as patrol policeman about once a week, this enables me to help the comunity as well as add some action to my life, its a comletely different kind of work than my daily job and it really is something that I really like doing. I am doing it already for about 20 years, in different positions in the police and I will continue to do it as long as they will want me. They really need the extra manpower as they are very limited and sometimes there are more volunteers in a specific shift than actual policemen. If it is interesting I can tell you about some eventfull nights when they will come.

The second place that I am connected to is really a project of Technion Alumni, it is aimed at helping schoolchildren that have potential but have no means to leverage it, we go and teach them mathematics and physics in order for them to have good grades in the finals and help them have a better chance in attending higher education, it is really rewording, especially when I have students that want to learn as I do this year. I am doing it for the last 4 years and hope to continue many more.

Hope you found it interesting, I will be happy to hear your comments,

Bye for now,

Gil

QM SAP Consultant

As I told you yesterday, I am working as an SAP Consultant, I specialize in QM and PP modules. I like exploring and learning new stuff, so this line of work enables me to get to know different companies, whenever we have a new rollout or even a new project for the same customer it is a new world complete with getting to know new people, new modules, new transactions and sometimes even new cultures.

I work in the software industry almost 20 years and in SAP for the last 4 years, its half of my life, a lot of time, this is why as I told you, I am starting to look for different business, plus the fact that I am taking the train to work every day for about 1.5 hours, its not easy, so working from home sounds great at the moment and I am checking internet marketing as well as Forex trading, what will happen in the future I really don’t know, but even the process of looking for new stuff is interesting and making me learn new things in directions that I never really got into, so even if nothing comes out, I am happy with the process, you can say its a win win situation.

Next time I will talk about my volunteer work in the police and as a teacher, hope this will interest you.

Bye for now,

Gil

Here we go … My first post

How about that? I never thought that the day will come when I will write a blog, but I guess things change and here I am, writing my first post.

In the next posts I will write about things going on in my life, my hobbies and interests, as well as about my recent search for new ways to work at home in addition to my current job as an SAP consultant.

But in this post I will only tell you what made me start this blog, well it is actually connected to my search for home jobs; I started a 39 weeks course called John Thornhill’s Masters Class where I hope to learn how to make money online, this blog was one of the tasks assigned in this course. John is one of the best in this field and I’m sure I will learn a lot from him.

Keep tuned to this blog as I will post new posts soon, I’m sure you will find them interesting. I can tell you a few of the subjects that I am going to talk about: Photography, Genealogy, Affiliate programs and Forex. If you are interested in these areas or have new things that you want to hear about please come back to this blog, hope to see you soon and read your comments.
